Dr. Devin Cromartie Bodrick, MD, MPH
About
I am a board-certified psychiatrist and academic faculty member whose work sits at the intersection of mental health, burnout, faith, and community care. I completed my education at Howard University, Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and completed my psychiatry training at Boston Medical Center.
My roles span clinical psychiatry, academic medicine, and community-engaged initiatives, alongside non-clinical coaching focused on stabilization and clarity. I also serve as First Lady of Twelfth Baptist Church, a role that reflects my ongoing engagement in faith-based community life and leadership.
Each area of work operates within clearly defined boundaries, allowing for ethical, focused, and context-specific care.
Psychiatrist
1. Clinical Work
I provide adult psychiatric care through Talkiatry, a national telepsychiatry platform. I treat a wide range of conditions, with particular interest in trauma and stress disorders, neurodiversity (ADHD and Autism), substance use disorders, and the intersections of spirituality and mental health. My approach is trauma-informed and attentive to cultural context, particularly in working with Black individuals and other historically marginalized communities. All psychiatric services are delivered exclusively within Talkiatry's clinical, legal, and insurance framework.
Diagnostic Evaluation
Comprehensive assessment to understand your mental health needs and history.
Medication Management
Evidence-informed prescribing as part of a broader psychiatric plan.
Supportive Psychotherapy
When clinically indicated, individualized therapy to help patients process stress, clarify priorities, strengthen coping, and navigate periods of transition or overwhelm while addressing underlying mental health conditions.
Care includes diagnostic evaluation, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy when clinically indicated. When appropriate, I incorporate individualized supportive psychotherapy to help patients process stress, clarify priorities, strengthen coping, and navigate periods of transition or overwhelm while addressing underlying mental health conditions. I draw on evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, and when appropriate, spiritual frameworks. Supportive psychotherapy is tailored to each patient and remains grounded in a broader psychiatric plan when needed.

2. Academic & Community Work
Academic Work
Teaching & Mentorship
Cultivating the next generation of healthcare professionals through rigorous training and guidance.
Community-Engaged Research
Developing evidence-based interventions in partnership with community organizations.
Focus Areas
Advancing health equity in mental health, substance use recovery, and faith-based care for Black communities.
Community Work
Community Engagement
My community-engaged work focuses on partnerships with faith institutions, community organizations, and interdisciplinary teams to address mental health access, stigma, and recovery, particularly within Black communities—much of which has taken place in church settings, though it is not limited to that context.
While this work is often connected to academic research, I approach community engagement as a distinct domain. I prioritize supporting communities in using their existing strengths and resources to improve wellbeing in ways that are sustainable beyond formal programs or grant funding.
Community Work
Church Leadership
I serve as First Lady of the Historic Twelfth Baptist Church in Boston (Senior Pastor - Willie Bodrick, II), a role rooted in the Black church tradition and shaped by the needs of the community. While there is no single way to carry out this role, I understand it as an extension of my ministry to support the wellbeing of individuals and communities.
This work has deepened my spiritual and theological grounding and shaped how I approach meaning, care, and collective wellbeing. While it is distinct from my clinical, academic, and coaching roles, each has been shaped by my experience in the church.
3. Coaching & Strategy
I also engage in non-clinical work focused on clarity, discernment, and navigation during periods of overwhelm or transition. This includes both individualized coaching and writing that reflects how I think and work in this domain.

This work is distinct from psychiatric care and is not a form of medical or mental health treatment. I focus on supporting individuals in reconnecting with their values, sense of direction, and overall wellbeing, drawing on my experience across clinical, academic, community, and faith-based contexts.
This work is often most relevant in contexts where individuals are navigating high levels of responsibility or leadership, particularly when questions of meaning, alignment, or spiritual grounding are present.
Coaching & Strategy
How I Work
Looking Beneath the Surface
My approach is grounded in looking beyond surface-level concerns to understand the underlying patterns, systems, and beliefs shaping an experience. I tend to think across multiple domains at once, connecting internal mindset, external context, and lived behavior to identify what is driving a given situation.
Organizing Complexity
I approach complexity by organizing it into clear, human-centered structures without oversimplifying it—helping individuals understand what is happening while still honoring its depth.
Stabilization Before Action
I prioritize stabilization before action, recognizing that decisions made from overwhelm or disconnection often reinforce existing challenges. This work begins with increasing awareness and grounding, followed by clarifying internal drivers, so that any action taken is aligned, intentional, and sustainable.
Coaching & Strategy
Liberated Paths Coaching
Liberated Paths Coaching is where this non-clinical work is offered in a more direct and applied way. It reflects an approach centered on clarity, alignment, and sustainable action during periods of overwhelm or transition.
Coaching is short-term, goal-oriented, and focused on stabilization and clarity during periods of overwhelm or transition. It is not therapy, does not address mental illness, and is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care.
Short-Term
Goal-oriented and time-limited engagement.
Clarity & Alignment
Reconnecting with values, direction, and wellbeing.
Not a Clinical Service
Distinct from therapy, psychiatry, and medical care.
